Operations Manager – Swindon & Gloucester

We have an exciting opportunity at Saracen Care, an outstanding rated provider for Supported Living Services, for an Operations Manager.

Location – Swindon and Gloucestershire

Full time role – 40 hours per week.

Salary – £42,000 – £45,000 pa.

As an operations manager, you will be proactive, confident and values driven, and play a vital part in shaping the quality, safety and consistency of our services. You will be required to advise the Directors and work in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team regarding direction and development of policies in accordance with legislative requirements, relevant regulations, recognised standards, best practice and within the financial plans of the organisation.

Working closely with the Operations Support Manager, you will support a care management team, and support to meet operational goals and uphold the highest standards of care.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Be familiar with the care and support needs of supported individuals, interacting with professionals and relatives.
  • Providing day to day direction, leadership, mentoring and guidance to care management and staff teams.
  • Supporting care management team to ensure services remain safely and effectively staffed.
  • Completing unannounced service visits to ensure exceptional quality and compliance.
  • Overseeing care planning, reviewing needs and monitoring risk assessments.
  • Supporting multi-disciplinary working and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Completing audits, monitoring reports and reviewing documentation.
  • Supporting CQC inspections and notifications, tenders, safeguarding investigations and incident reviews.
  • Ensuring adherence to the Care Act, Health and Social Care Act, MCA, DoLS and other relevant legislation.
  • Be part of a tiered out of hours on call service, on a rota basis
  • Ensuring operations are suitably staffed, and support with trouble shooting as necessary.
  • Creating and developing strong relationships with key partners in the community, and play an important role in strengthening the Saracen Care name and raising the company’s profile.
  • To undertake and contribute, as required in the multi-disciplinary assessment of individuals needs and the subsequent planning of their care. To monitor and review individuals’ needs and risks as appropriate.
  • Undertake initial assessments for new packages, supporting the Care Manager to prepare Care and Support Plans, risk assessments, behavioural guidelines and protocols as necessary.
  • Contribute to tender documentation preparation and presentation, including leading on new business initiatives or partnerships.
  • To secure and maintain individuals’ contracts. Assist with tenders across the organisation.
  • Identify potentially unsafe packages providing evidence and guidance to Senior Leadership Team as required and communicating with relevant stakeholders.
  • To maintain effective and efficient business levels in accordance with set targets and objectives.
  • To research and investigate new business opportunities to grow and develop the organisation and report these to the Directors.
  • To ensure that services are delivered in accordance with the contracts with local authorities, and that they remain financially viable. To have a continuous awareness of remaining financially viable across the business. This includes ensuring we hold the Individual Service Contract (ISC). To carry out monthly analysis of commissioned support v’s delivered.
  • To develop the image and reputation of the organisation in accordance with its objectives.
  • Actively demonstrate an awareness of the service and participate in the investigation of cost saving and cost improvement.
  • To partake in the PIR completion and annual return of this.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an Operations role or similar leadership role in the Care sector.
  • Level 5 diploma in Health and Social Care
  • Strong understanding of CQC regulations and sector legislation
  • Excellent communication, report writing and analytical skills
  • Ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities and work autonomously
  • Full manual UK driving licence
  • Strong attention to detail and a drive for high standards
  • Able to maintain professional presentation and boundaries
  • Positive, solution focused and proactive
  • To be able to prepare reports and tenders as required
  • To be able to implement and maintain recording and reporting systems
  • To understand and implement quality control procedures
